Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6hr)
For anyone caring for a child. Learn how to deliver age appropriate emergency first aid care.
Service Description
A one day course, suitable for anyone caring for babies, nursery or school aged children in their own home or work place who wants to gain a qualification. Practical learning, including CPR practice for babies and children on manikins. Duration: 6hr min Content included in this course includes: * The role of a first aider and being prepared for emergencies * Assessing emergency situations and prioritising what action to take * Helping a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally * Helping a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally * Helping a baby or child who is having a seizure * Helping a baby or child who is choking * Helping a baby or child who is bleeding * Helping a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock) * Helping a baby or child who is suffering from anaphylactic shock * Helping a baby or child who has had an electric shock * Helping a baby or child with head, neck or back injuries * Common childhood conditions including: diabetic emergency, asthma attack, allergic reaction and sepsis Duration: 6 hours. This course is delivered face to face and meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Statutory Framework for 6 hour emergency paediatric first aid, with additional topics included. (NB: We also offer the full 12 hour face to face or blended course if this is what you require to meet the Ofsted registration requirements of the EYFS)

Cancellation Policy
Payment for this course is required in full at booking, with services withheld for non-payment. Cancellations must be in writing (please email), incurring a 50% charge if made anytime up to 2 weeks prior, and 100% if less than 14 days. Group re-bookings and single attendee swaps are at STAR's discretion, subject to at least 30 days' notice is given, and registration fees being covered. If we need to postpone, alternative dates or venues will be offered. All learners must act honestly and respectfully, and follow STAR's Learner Agreement, or services may withheld.
